Microsoft has now made Phone Link available for iOS users enrolled in Insiders. To set up Phone Link on an iPhone, go to the Phone Link homepage. Users will find two options under the ‘Pick your phone‘ section – Android and iPhone. Select the iPhone option and install the ‘Link to Windows’ app on the iPhone. Next, scan the QR code displayed on the PC.
To complete the pairing, the code in Phone Link should match the code on the iPhone. Grant permissions in the iPhone’s Bluetooth settings by following the on-screen instructions to sync the device. After the process is complete, the iPhone’s notifications, calls, messages, and contacts will be accessible on the linked Windows PC.
Limitations Of Phone Link for iOS
Incoming calls on iPhone will be displayed on the PC, and users can choose to receive or end them. When compared to Phone Link for Android, the iOS version supports only basic functions. However, the app is still in the preview stage, so more features could be added before the public release.
Phone Link for iOS has several limitations, such as the inability to send media like photos or respond to group messages. Furthermore, users will not be able to see their full message history in conversations, as only texts sent or received via Phone Link will be visible.
Because the interface is simple and basic, distinguishing between blue and green bubbles in iPhone messages is also not currently available through Phone Link. Users will also not be able to access any photos on their iPhone via Phone Link. They can, however, integrate iCloud Photos with the Windows Photos app for easy access from their PC.
According to Microsoft, Phone Link will be gradually rolled out to more users based on feedback received from Insiders. Phone Link for iOS was announced alongside Microsoft’s other major Windows 11 updates, the including AI-powered Bing chatbot on the taskbar, a screen recorder feature in the snipping tool, improved touch optimization, and more.
